How Preceda is made.
Who makes it
Preceda is made in New Delhi by a small team: a legal co-founder whose practice has been before the Delhi High Court and the Supreme Court of India, and engineers who build research software.
The corpus
Preceda reads the judgments of the Supreme Court of India and the High Courts as one register, with the central statutes a practitioner relies on, among them the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, the Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam and the Code of Civil Procedure. Where one judgment follows, distinguishes or overrules another and the corpus records it, the treatment is shown beside the case.
The corpus grows as judgments are published and gathered. It is not complete, and Preceda does not say it is.
The method
Counsel states the objective; the associate resolves the instrument, reads the authorities and prepares the draft. When the draft relies on an authority, the associate quotes it from the corpus. An authority the corpus cannot quote is marked VERIFY in the margin, for counsel to check before relying on it.
Every draft is a draft, for counsel to review before it is filed or sent.
The type
Set in Newsreader for reading, Inter for controls and JetBrains Mono for citations such as (2014) 8 SCC 273. The faces are served from this site; the pages load no third-party fonts or scripts.
Publisher
Preceda provides legal information, not legal advice.
Preceda is published from New Delhi by Corpus Law AI.
