Overview

Preceda ("we", "us", "our") operates the legal research platform at preceda.ai and app.preceda.ai. This policy describes what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that data.

Data we collect

Account information

When you create an account, we collect your email address. We use passwordless authentication — we do not store passwords. A time-limited, hashed verification code is sent to your email for each login.

Usage data

We collect search queries, page views, and feature usage to improve the platform. This data is associated with your account when you are logged in.

Matter data

If you use the AI matter agent, the facts, documents, and drafts you provide are stored to maintain your workspace. This data is associated with your account and is not shared with other users.

Error and performance data

We collect client-side error reports and performance metrics to maintain service reliability. These logs are pruned automatically and do not contain personal information beyond your session identifier.

How we use your data

  • To debug errors and maintain uptime
  • To communicate service updates (email, only when necessary)

What we do not do

  • We do not sell your data to third parties
  • We do not use your matter data to train AI models
  • We do not share your search history with other users
  • We do not serve advertisements

Data storage and security

Account data is stored in encrypted databases on servers in Germany (Hetzner). Session tokens are hashed using SHA-256. Verification codes are hashed and expire after 10 minutes. Rate limiting is enforced on authentication endpoints.

Data retention

Account data is retained for as long as your account is active. Search and usage logs are retained for up to 12 months. Error logs are pruned automatically to a rolling window. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us.

Your rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your account and data
  • Export your matter data

Cookies

We use a session cookie for authentication. We do not use tracking cookies or third-party analytics that set cookies. The session cookie is HTTP-only and secure.
